Trainers, Coaches and Consultants (Arabic speaking) Collapse
Free Press Unlimited based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands strongly believes that all people are entitled to have access to unbiased, reliable and timely information. This enables them to assess their own living conditions, influence these and make the right decisions. Press freedom and freedom of information are vital for gathering and spreading reliable, unbiased information. Media plays a crucial role in providing people free and unrestricted access to information that can help them develop and monitor the authorities. We want to make and keep objective news and information available to everyone, especially to people in countries without or with limited (press) freedom.
With immediate effect, Free Press Unlimited is looking for freelance trainers, coaches or consultants in the following fields to share knowledge and partner with a recently established Sudanese media institute:
- Trainer of trainers for editorial trainers and/or coach
- Institutional development trainer and/or coach (internal procedures, workflows, governance, bylaws/statutes)
- Financial/admin/controller/planning/reporting development trainer/coach
- Project management, monitoring results, register impact and project evaluation trainer/coach
- Media applied thematic field trainers:
- safety and security (risk assessment, SOP, planning and mitigation - digital, physical, mental)
- advocacy (strategy, creative, outreach)
- Media content review/content monitoring and research consultant
Objective of the assignment
Free Press Unlimited is supporting the development of media outlets and media institutions (regulatory bodies, press freedom advocacy organisations) in the MENA region. For a new project on and for Sudan, the newly established Sudan Media Forum will be supported in their establishment and agency as an institution, including engaging in editorial collaboration, media dialogue for solution, and peer-support learning, building a safe and secure working environment to advocate for free and cohesive media in Sudan.
We are looking for experienced, proactive and professional trainers, coaches and consultants in the above fields to join the current existing trainers pool. Capacity building activities will be either online (most of it) or offline within East Africa or Europe.
Responsibilities
- Adopt a teamwork approach and broad institutional awareness and commitment to overall project’s strategy and partners’ mission and vision.
- Prepare for capacity building activity (workshop, coaching, mentoring, shadowing etc.) including a baseline survey and needs assessment of the individual candidates, and organisation.
- Propose and advise learning interventions based on needs and strategy.
- Deliver the learning activity in adaptable manner (online or offline).
- Follow up and hold refreshers of held learning activities based on progress monitoring results - with coaching sessions.
- Deliver consultancy/learning activities report indicating recommendations and evaluations.
Requirements
- Fluency in Arabic (reading and speaking) and English;
- Relevant degree (media, communications, journalism, etc);
- 5+ years experience in educational/learning activities and preferable in media outlets and/or media institutions field;
- Excellent coaching skills, not conflicting or confrontational;
- Understands and consistently applies coaching ethics and standards of coaching, demonstrating cultural, systemic, and contextual awareness;
- Working experience in - and excellent understanding of media;
- Experience in mentoring and advising individuals and organisations;
- Ability to be fully conscious and create spontaneous relationships with people, employing a style that is open, flexible, and confident;
- Experience in institutional development, admin/finance, safety of journalists, advocacy, shared-newsrooms etc;
- Clear evidence of strategic analysis, campaigns won, power built, creative actions delivered, and people developed;
- Awareness of human rights related issues in Sudan.
