In Memoriam - Victoria Roshchyna
Viktoria Roshchyna died only 27 years old in Russian captivity
We are deeply saddened to hear about the tragic loss of Viktoria Roshchyna. She was incredibly brave and dedicated to her work, reporting on the horrors of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Her courage in the face of war and her determination despite the constant threat to her life were truly remarkable.
Viktoria’s disappearance last summer was already a devastating blow, and now learning that she died in Russia is heartbreaking. We can only imagine the pain her family, friends, and colleagues are feeling right now, and our deepest sympathies go out to all of them.
At Free Press Unlimited and Free Press for Eastern Europe, we have always admired independent news platform Hromadske’s, which is our partner since 2016, courage and determination in these dark times. Viktoria’s work, especially during such a brutal war, is a testament to the strength and resilience of Ukrainian journalism. Her legacy will live on through the powerful stories she told and the example she set for others.
We stand with all Viktoria's colleagues and friends at Hromadske in this painful moment.
